Review: NTI Backup Now is a straightforward software application which allows you to backup your files and folders, in case they should get lost or deleted by accident. The tool can be easily figured out, even by less experienced users. The interface of the program is plain and uncomplicated. So, you can get started by selecting the files and folders you want to backup. Locating them on the hard drive is easy, thanks to the Explorer-based layout. In the following step, you can establish the output destination - hard disk drives, network drives, drives with removable storage, or FTP server. Plus, you can create a bootable CD or DVD disc. The backup you are creating can be either full or incremental. The latter option allows you to perform a full backup at the beginning, after which files and folders shall be regularly updated. This task can be done hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. NTI Backup Now integrates several configuration options. For example, you can make the app compare the original and backup files (in order to verify the consistency), to tone after the backup task is done, and to overwrite existing files. In addition, you can create profiles, set file type filters (audio, picture, videos, documents, custom), create an inclusion or exclusion list, enable password protection and data encryption, as well as set the tool to send you notifications via email. Experienced users may also load job scripts (only for scheduled jobs). The program requires a moderate quantity of CPU and system memory, is pretty responsive to commands, quickly finishes a backup job, and contains a help file. We have not experienced any issues throughout our evaluation; NTI Backup Now did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. Some improvements are welcomed in the interface, from the visual point of view. Otherwise, NTI Backup Now should satisfy users of any level of experience. |
